Thanks for the input Marlo. You will not get an amen from me Clifford since I think all Lacy dogs are equally pretty! I have another question on color. Us that have blues are constantly asked if our dog is a Weim or Weim-X. Are those of you having reds asked if your dog is a yellow Lab-X or?

AMEN Brother Clifford! Reds are by far my favorite.
Most blues look dull. I did see pictures of a dog named Rooster at the Labor Day get together that was just beautiful. Had the slender build and glossy blue coat. Wish I knew who owned him and what his bloodlines are.

I am constantly asked if MIA is a Weim pup. When I answer that she is 4 years old I get "Oh, then whe is a Weim-X. I usually just say no since it gets tiresome explaining the Blue Lacy story. There are not many of this breed in CA. I know that there is a Lacy breeder in Redlands CA which is about 1100 miles from me. I believe that there is a Lacy owner in Riverside County that is just north of where I live. Maybe because of the breed being the state dog of TX, they are better known than here.
I'm still curious as to what Red owners run into when people see their dog. Lab-X???

People ask us what they are, but rarely tell us what they think they are... I think people in Mississippi have never seen a Weinerrunner! And, they know these aren't Labs, because they are always together, and Jazz looks nothing like one...
The first person that saw them in Illinois called them Cur Coonhounds... It turns out that we just met a fellow who drove to Llano 25 years ago and brought five of them back up here. But, over time, he never bred enough of them to keep a few going.
He came out to see our dogs, and lit up like a Christmas tree, telling us stories about the individual dogs and how they hunted coons and squirrels. His son lives in Florida and wants another Lacy.. We are trying to help him get one...

Ridgeback..most common for Amos..I've had people ask what kind of cur they are since there are lot of Florida Curs. Weim mix, Lab mix, Pit bull mix (the color throws them off)
I think that's about it..I take mine to the hardware and feed stores..lots of looks and questions. Mostly people shut up and don't know what to say after you say Texas Lacy. If they ask further I'll tell them..they are a hunting/herding/blood trailing dog from Texas. Remember now..they are ahunting/ herding/blood trailing dog from Texas. I figure that bout covers the highlights and they can look up the rest.

I get asked a lot if Yellow Rose is a lab. she has that beautiful head that could resemble a smaller boned lab, but then we get into the yellow eyes. BTW, she is being a WONDERFUL new momma.
