gabe, what % of protein are you feeding? I would think over 24 would be pushing it. is your pup getting real leggy as well?

Kevin it's funny I think a lot of it is just in there genes . Bull and Tiny are both on same food but Bull is much bigger . I know protein is a big part of it just not sure how much of it ?

Kevin, I am feeding Innova large breed puppy, I think it is 24%. I think he looks great, you can see my most recent pics in the thread below this one. He just feels like a brick when you pick him up. The vet says he is looking and growing great. He told me not to change anything.

Hopefully, he won't weigh 60 lbs. cause that is not looked upon favorably. I bet he will slow down, and even out. He may very well weigh about the same as Jones, which some think is too big! I think Jones' size is great! The reason you want to keep a check on the protein, is so his bone structure will grow along with his weight and not too fast. I think they say it can cause issues later down the road. I do believe that you want to keep it around 24% or under. He is a beautiful pup!

Gabe, in my opinion, he will not get over 50 lbs. Keep a check on his height. What is it now?
Jazz weighs 36lbs soaking wet. Jones, at his heaviest is 50 lbs.

Have you checked on reducing the protein content? I always depend on Cynthia for things like this. Email her to see what she thinks.

From what I have been told it is not so much the protein content as it is the amount of food. Think about it if you fed raw, what would be the protein content?

If you feed raw, the amount of protein ranges around 17 to 20%. Depends on the protein that you are feeding. Raw is a huge percent water. That is why dogs dont drink much water when they are fed raw.
