I know there has been a pretty steady mention about what % dog food to feed. I thought I would bring this up for discussion. I discussed this with my Dad who is a Chairman of Physiology and has studied dogs most of his life. I asked him point blank will feeding a puppy a food that is high in protein make the dog grow faster in height or have any health issues. His answer is no. The only way one should see a difference is if you were depriving the dog of food comparing to one that is being fed a healthy high protein diet. As we all know, he said dogs are descendants from wolves and that they are meat eaters. They turn the meat into most anything they need. One issue is that if you feed a high protein diet you don't feed as much so if you overfeed a puppy could gain more weight. The overall height of the dog comparing healthy diets should be related to the genetics of the dogs. He said just think if that were true everyone that wanted their kids to be bigger football players would be feeding them high protein diets. I compared this to what I was told from the owner of Victor dog foods and it was very similiar.

I know from experience i have personally raised over 300 dogs from puppies and i have even split litters up in half and fed one litter a high protein and THIS IS THE ONE THAT MEANS THE MOST IN A PUPPY ACTUALLY a higher fat content! I have done this in more then one litter and YES it will make puppies grow bigger! I only say this because i have actually done this myself personally many many occasions! but like i said the FAT content is more important the the actual protein content i found!
