Well got a call from a guy Justin sent me last night at about 8pm. He shot a buck and it ran . He started to track it but lost blood pretty quick. I got there with Bella and Patch we started at the last spot of blood he had marked and went from there . We went about 400 yards and found several spots od blood all very small . Then came the heavy rain and Bella just shut down on me and stood beside me Patch ranged out but kept coming back and then back out we found no blood at all after the last spot but Patched was working and I could tell he was following something but he is not my blood trail dog so I was not sure we he was on anything . Bella would go out but kept coming back to me .Then came the heavy rain the guy I was trailing for decide he wanted to quit and just pay me . I told him to just give us a little more time to work it and he said ok. Patch was moving at a pretty good clip so I just went with him and hoped he was on something . After about another 700 yards of moving fast I saw a set of eyes up ahead I thought it was Patch then I saw a second set about 20 yards apart . I called to patch he came back but the other eyes stayed put we moved in a little closer and could tell it was a deer Patch went back and got about 10 yards away and the deer just laid down but Patch just stood in front of it we got within 25 yards and could tell it was the buck I called patch out and chris took the shoot and killed the deer . I was very impressed with Patch considering I have never blood trailed him at all . I was dissapointed with Bella but I guess she was just off her game. The guy was very impressed and happy we did not want to quit . We are 1 for 4 for the year and I would have never guessed it would be Patch that would find a deer . Hardest trail I have ever been on we went for over a 1/4 of a mile on my garmin.
