I got a call from someone who frequents the forum, telling me that his six month old Lacy had just recovered her first deer... I will let him fill in the details...

I see that Clifford has spread the news of Bella's first recovery. She found a doe on Friday for my hunting partner and found her second on Saturday and then her third last evening. The first was a short track through a nasty thicket of thorns and devils walking sticks--the little Princess didn't care for the briars but she picked her way through and came upon this furry thing that was bigger than her. SHe hesitantly approached the doe and then when she realized that was where the smell was coming from she was all about licking the blood from her lifeless body. Saturday was more impressive in that there was sign in the field where my partner shot but nothing where she went into the woods. She circled the initial shot location and into the woods she went. My partner said I will parallel you to make sure she is on the right trail and I assured him she was based on her body language and the fact that she stuck her nose on the ground and showed me blood and after a little longer track there lay his doe. He was impressed as was I. No hesitation with briars or approaching her second deer. Last evening I shot the doe and she ran from the field with no sign of blood and due to the thicket that surround the field I was unable to tell where she entered. This was the same field that had two dead deer in it the night before so she was initially winded them and after a patterned search I got her on the right trail she tracked right to her third deer in as many days. I am a proud dad. There are pics on the Lacy site.
How do you ask did Clifford know--well as can be imagined I had to tell somebody and I had his cell number so he got the call. Thanks Clifford for the welcome ear and the forum to share our escapades.

Good deal...Bella's a Todd Young pup isn't she? Who ever is her mom and pop I know they are proud too. She's a beautiful girl.

Lowcountry's Bella Blue is the daughter of Sandy's Calamity Jane and Tuff born on March 16th. I think she would have had her first find sooner if I were to have killed a deer sooner. Holding out on the bucks and we couldn't shoot does until the 15th. Thanks for the complement on the other site.

Clifford, How long is your hunting camp open? I remember your ad for a cook being a real short period of time.

I think the hunting last longer than the food

We run hunters from the last week of October through the first week of December. But, I sell hunts that do not include food to the cheapskates that think they can save a few bucks by eating in town.. I also have more than one cook, just in case!

You should create a spread sheet......show them the cost of the city food plus gas to get there and back verses your food cost. Just a thought
