Clifford there are a lot of good medical emergency kits to buy at some of the hog dog supply places . A lot of what you carry depends on what you are doing . I carry a lot of stuff because I am near the pen and do not need to pack it any where . The most important things you need. I think if in the woods or any were for that matter , is thing that will save the dogs life till you can get them proper care . Minor cuts to deep cuts are bad but can be stopped with blood stop and staples. Peroxide , iodine solution , aspirin , and pain killers get them from your vet tell him you are putting a emergency kit together ,stapler ,water , Gut absorb sutures , blood stop , lots of gauze pads and gauze wrap, surgical tube . Scissors , tweezers , hemo stats , and razor blades .I also carry electric beard trimmer to shave area I am working. I also carry fish-Mox amoxicillin 10mg. per pound of dog . On a nasty cut or bite I like to get antibiotics in them, just let the vet know once you get there you have given the animal a dose .I also recommend looking up local vets in the area before you hunt or if you are bay pen practicing . Get a emergency # from them and make sure they willing to be available if a emergency should arise.
