I am getting more reports that our pups are getting the job done, as the new owners are putting them to work tracking!
This is very encouraging news... And, I look forward to see all of the pups again in a few months, when we move to phase two!
What is phase two, you might ask? Keep watching... It's gonna be good!

Jackson is ready we have been going to camp and running mock trails about one a week. We have had a slow deer season with only one kill. The acorns are killing us but it us a long season.

Sadie is having a great season and surprises me every day… A couple of days ago a hunter needed help finding a buck. I asked him a few questions about the deer and his shot placement. He said he made a good shot, the deer did a mule kick and he had good blood but couldn’t find the deer. We went to the location were the hunter shot the deer. It was a field full of tall grass, weeds and ticks. I didn’t want to take Sadie through the field so I told the hunter we would find the blood trail at the fence line and hardwoods. Sadie picked up the blood trail and headed 75 yards towards the stream. I noticed as we trailing Sadie made a few J turns then she found blood on a rock at the stream. J patterns are indications that the deer is looking for a place to bed its checking its back trail. I made the decision that I would hook her up to her lead after we crossed the stream and climbed the bank. Too late Sadie climbed the bank and I heard a grow. she jumped the buck and took off after it. I found myself doing a 200 yard dash across the field after her. Something I haven’t done in 20 years. Sadie waited for me inside the hardwoods on the other side of the field. I put her on a lead and decided to back off the deer. We were 500 yards from pushing the buck on a property we couldn’t go on. We returned an hour latter checked the road and some major trails to see if the buck crossed. It didn’t so I put the hunter in the woods off the road as a blocker. Sadie and I returned to the location of last blood. The pictures show the buck was trying to cover its trail by walking through watery grass and thick brush. Sadie started doing another J pattern and 20 yards more in thick brush the buck was bedded. You can see the deers face in the picture. Sadie growled and I let her go. The buck grunted at her and off they went again. We turned the buck and got headed in a favorable direction. Sadie got in front of the buck and bayed it. Her lead got tangled in the brushed you can see how much she wants the deer by the tension in her collar. I pulled Sadie off the buck and called the hunter in for the final shot. The original wound was to the right rear leg which broke the leg in half. It was an exciting day for a young puppy and its owner.
