Data for your records... Sadie came into her first heat at 11 months and 12 days. Guess that makes her a big girl now. Sadie cooling off in her pool during the hot spell ( 11 Months Old )

Sadie's size and muscle mass is a surprise but a pleasant one. That comes from Jones and the Pecan Peak Ranch side of the bloodline.
Her treeing and gate comes from Jemma and the Podunk Heaven Ranch side of the bloodline. Sadie also has a trait from her grand dam of cutting in and taking out the back legs of a running animal. Its been dogs for now and its funny to watch them tumble when she cuts in.
Sadie is 21 inches and 44 lbs at 11 months old. She may be retaining some water for these next few weeks.
These last couple of months she has been putting on the muscle. Mon, Wed, Fri I ride in a cart and run her 10 - 15 mph for and hour. Only stopping to tree or bay animals. Shes to the point right now were she doesn't even stop for a drink of water. Watching Lacy's run never gets old.
For the part of New York I live in I like the big powerful size. She will have no problem running and hunting in the snow. The coyotes in this region are a hybrid they average 60 to 80 lbs.
The breeding aspect I have been reviewing the pros and cons. I am in the initial phase. My first thoughts are for me to be successful is have a well known stud with a top pedigree. That way my pups would be appealing to active Lacy owners in south as well as new lacy owners in the northeast of the USA. My land will support plenty of dogs but a breeding pair is enough for me.
I also prefer to see the stud in person. I did see such a dog in Texas it was fast dog large in size big boned with muscle mass like Jones. I did not talk to the owners about breeding.

Wow! She looks great...But, it is hard to imagine that she is 21 inches tall... That would make her taller than her Sire, Jones! But, from the side, there is no doubting that her Dam is Jemma. She looks just like her!

I think I'm close with the measurement at the withers I would guess within 3/4 of an inch. I made a tool with a yard stick and a ruler similar to a square.
The posture may make a difference too relaxed versus alert. She was in an alert stance looking at her reflection in the glass.
Shes a clown when she tries to bay herself.

Her momma stands on our bed, sees herself in the mirror on our dresser and does the same thing!

I'm pleased with most parts of Sadie's training and if she looses focus she respects me well enough that I can put her right back on task. If her tracking progresses as I think it will I will be ready to take the next step with Lacy dogs.
I will be in Texas again next spring. I will talk with some Lacy owners in person. I have one in mind that I really like.
I also plan on returning with a new pup. Sadie needs a playmate.

Owning more than one Lacy is a common trait. Being smart enough to stop at two evades a lot of folks! And, as I write this, the decision to keep one of our latest pups has already been made. But, she will live somewhere else, and we will only retain half ownership. That seems to be the most logical step to continuing the line at this point.

been thinking about Sadie and I know you will do due dillegence when selecting a sire for her, however at 21 inchs you might want to consider trying to find a male somewhat smaller that has all the traits your looking for so the pups dont become oversized.....just a thought

Yes I will seek advice from experienced breeders.
I will even respect their thoughts on to breed or not to breed.
My target date is spring of 2014 for a litter.
Up here only spring litters are advisable you don't want to be snowbound with a pocket rocket in your house.

Hey Phil! I am so pleased with what you're doing with Sadie. I get chill bumps every time I see a new pic of her. She looks so much like my Jemma, with her beautiful, deep blue color. I sure would love to see her again. She's a pup that I will never forget!
I'm so glad you're pleased with her. Is she sort of thick? The reason I ask, is because that reminds me of Jones. It could be the picture, though.
Thanks for giving us an update.
