Tomorrow is the opening day of turkey season in Georgia! I am behind on honeybee chores so I won't be going.
Georgia only has a spring turkey season. Other states have spring and fall seasons. My dad's county in Alabama has a fall season.

Turkey hunting is special for me, my baby brother Jimmy takes me and I always end up laughing my butt off about something. Once I went with him, his friend Jimmy and his son Jimmy Junior. Ha ha!!! I would say "Hey Jimmy!" and all 3 Jimmys would turn around.
I thought of another Lacy job: turkey dog! Yes, there is such a thing. If you live in a state with a fall turkey season, some of them also allow turkey dogs. The dog runs in and busts up the flock. Then you cover up your dog with some camoflage fabric and sit down to call in a turkey as they try to find other flock members.
Hog huntin? (drool drool drool) we might be interested if it doesn't cost too much.

I could never ever kill a turkey. For some reason they are special, kinda sacred birds; up there with owls. Perhaps it's because we don't have that many in my area. I'll never forget the time my dog, Duke, while we were trail riding and much to my horror, got into a bunch of juveniles and came out of the woods with turkey legs hanging out of his mouth. One gulp and they were history.

yeah, I know that..there's just some animals I will not kill. Fox squirrels and wood ducks are others. I told you I had tree hugger in me.
