As a special treat, I decided to get one of those empty sixpack carriers at the Krogers, and fill it with beers I have never tried.
Yesterday, I enjoyed Southern Blonde, a nice brew from Arkansas. It was not the type of beer I would drink a lot of, but good for the time being! It seemed a little heavy on the malt, and tended to foam in your mouth, but not badly.
Today, I am sampling Tommyknocker's Pick Axe, from Colorado. It has a sharp flavor, which gets your attention at the first sip. I could handle a few of these on a warm afternoon. For a Pale Ale, not too shabby! But, you want it COLD!

They did not carry New Belgium's Fat Tire from Colorado, or Yuengling Lager from the oldest brewery in the country, located in Pottsville, PA, two of my favorites. But then, I already know exactly what those taste like, based on a very large sample size. If you get a chance check them out.... NICE!

Clifford those are indeed good beers! I am having a love affair with Fire Rock Pale Ale from Kona brewery at the moment. I bought some Sierra Nevada for the weekend. Another yummy is Weihenstephaner Heifer Wizz. Or something like that, anyway it is a wheat beer from Germany.
Today, I have been sipping on Lazy Magnolia's Reb Ale... Very similar to the pale ale from yesterday, but not quite as sharp.
This is their signature brew, made up for Ole Miss. If you have never been to the campus, it's loaded with beautiful women. They are like the girls at LSU, but not quite as sharp!
This beer has a slight aftertaste. But, I believe it would not be noticable if you had more than one, and it was extremely cold!

For the afternoon, I have decided to check out another brew from Lazy Magnolia, Southern Pecan. It is a Brown Ale, with a subtle sweetness, and a much milder flavor. Use of roasted pecans in the brewing process makes this beer unique, and also produces a mellow taste which is hard to describe. I would think you might enjoy this one with a steak just off the grill. And, I don't often find beers that will work like that!

You may notice that I am not sampling any wheat beers, and there is a good reason for that! I just not a fan of them, and find it especially strange to add an orange flavor to any beer. I will however shove a lime in a Corona in a heart beat!

Skipping a day has left me ready to taste another of the two beers left in my six pack. So, tonight I am enjoying Flying Dog brewery's Tire Bite, a brew they describe as the perfect warm weather beer, a nice golden ale from Frederick, Maryland. That's a southern state, you know! It has no after taste, is the mildest of any in the test so far, and a very ornate label. I would drink more if I had them here! And, the bottle features a quote from Hunter S. Thompson, "Good people drink good beer.", which I find to be completly accurate!

I broke down and drank the last of my six pack this afternoon, Tommyknocker's Ornery Amber LAger. Just like most of these it tends to foam a bit in your mouth, but had a mild taste. I was full from a meal, but it did not seem to make me feel more bloated. Overall, not too bad, although it would not be my first choice at a bar. I could probably drink three or four of these, but that would be about it, before I would want to switch...
