Yesterday, I hit the grocery store again, and couldn't help noticing that there were more new beers to try... So, I grabbed another six, which are now in the process of chilling to about 36 degrees! I plan to examine the new brews soon, and will be reporting on that as it happens. This is about the only thing I have found to do this Summer that keeps me sane! Thank goodness we are about to start the outdoor show season again...

Cliff, I tried to explain this same logic to my boss. He didn't buy it.

OK, time to catch up on all of this scientific research...
The similarity of the first four beers out of the new six pack left me with little to report, other than that they all made the cut line for something I would drink again. I guess Pale is a type, whether it's Porter, Ale, or Lager... They all have a wang, and leave an after taste. But, they do not foam in your mouth, which I have also decided is a common trait of Amber brews. The ones I sampled were Tommyknocker Alpine Glacier, Diamond Bear Paradise Porter, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and Red Brick Pale Ale, with my nod going to the Sierra Nevada brew as the one I liked the best. The mountain scene on the label might have swayed me slightly, but there was also the squatty shape of the bottle to consider, which reminded me of a true beer drinker's physique.
Then, the wifey grabbed a bottle of Red Hook SlIm Chance, and delivered it to me right before supper. As soon as I tasted it, I decided that someone needs to be shot for even calling it beer! Reading the label, I discovered that I had inadvertently grabbed something call "light" on my path to filling the carton, which in my opinion means water in a beer bottle, or simply a marketing scheme where they sell you nothing, and tell you its good for you! YANKEE BASTARDS!!! This crap is from New Hampshire, and I am here to tell you it sucks so bad that I poured it out! Even the dude on the surfboard on the label looks gay. This relatively short event confirms that the people in New Hampshire might know how to vote, but need to stick to maple syrup production when it comes to bottling liquids.
I have one bottle left to deal with, but it may take a day or two to get this nasty taste out of my memory. Until I do, the research has to be on hold!

I am working on Long Board Lager by Kona Brewing Company. I like it better than Fire Rock.

Well, the hot weather, and the fact that one bottle looked so funny sitting there all alone in the refrigerator left me with no choice but to finish the last review this afternoon.
The final candidate was Widmer Brothers' Drop Top Amber Ale. And, against all odds, I enjoyed this one. I got past the foam in the mouth quickly, and relished in the fact that it actually had a full flavor. The dog on the label had a smile almost as big as mine as I swilled this one down in several long gulps. They don't get much right out in Portland, but this beer is really good! Too bad it doesn't come in a larger size. I believe I could handle a 22...
The store has a limited stock, and I believe my next choices will be either Texas brews, or Mexican, if I stay away from the Sam Adams and Saint Pauli Girl stuff.. They do offer some other foreign stuff, but that might have to wait for a while. I guess we will just have to see what follows me home next!

I did in a six pack of Yingling over the course of a week. Now I have a stomach bug so no beer for me, ack! I have to go out and sample all your beers, Clifford! It will be like a treasure hunt trying to find them all.
I like Honeybrown Lager. Of course.
