Sometimes I feel like I have run through some sort of warp when I talk with other Lacy people. It seems that there is a concern with color (not white), and that people are actually placing this above working ability... I have one word on that! NIX!!!!
Do you really care if your dog has red tinges in its blue. if the son of a gun will eat up the critter you are chasing? I am really sick of blue, blue, blue.... These dogs come in many color variations, and apparently mixtures.... Get over the obsession with blue, PLEASE! I like pretty dogs, but I love working dogs...
This like saying to a horse owner that you like Paints, but only Tobiano, and not Overo! Who wants to ride a horse that doesn't have a good gait?

I totally agree that color doesn't hunt. Perhaps someone will speak up, who knows genetics better than I, about crossing a tri (being one of these lighter blues with the faintest of a reddish tinge) with a red dog. I would love to understand the possibilties of coat color in the pups. Color, including the white markings, would not be an issue if it wasn't in the breed "standards". While there is no example of what colors are disallowed, I would hate to have a litter of pups that were not eligible for breeding status registration based upon their color. If we can get this figured out, Jones may have himself a wife someday!

I like all three colors, however it is the volhard test that make my final decision. If I am looking to add stock to my kennel and I prefer blue I will use the test on my blue candidate...if she/he doesn't score accordingly I no longer have a candidate. The Volhard fills the gaps in the working arena IMO...but I will NEVER forego structure over working ability or visa versa...I want it all and if you go with the right breeder for your stock you can have your cake and eat it too!

If only all of us were trained to do this test!

I can train you...come on down in 6 weeks when I test Gracie's litter. And Sundra took video of the test she would probably send you a copy of us administering the test

If an acceptable match for Amos could be found in your area I could make it happen..perhaps I wouldn't get kicked out of my house or fired from work!! I'd love to see the video.
