Pearl is continuing to do well in herding class, and I really like our trainer because he won't beat a dog, he is gentle and understands the dog's point of view. If anything he is rougher on me than Pearl! Which is as it should be. Monday I even stayed on my feet! Friday was another story, got hit so hard by the sheep that one of my sneakers flew off. My poor old bones!
Anywho.....today I came home from work and there was a big old doe in the back yard eating pears from around the pear tree. When I got out of the car she ran away. I went inside and let Pearl out to see what she would do. She went on out and when she got to the bottom of the yard, she hit the doe's trail and put her head to the ground. Then she went trailing the doe back up to where she had stood eating the pears. She had her head down snuffling away the whole time.
I don't know what I am more excited about, archery season starting this weekend or herding! I think that I have finally found my all-purpose dog. Used to have one dog for blood trailing and one for herding.
