She was wondering how protective are lacy's? she would like to feel safe while i'm not home and this is one of her MAJOR reasons waiting to become a mommy to a lacy puppy. So question is do you find your lacy's to be protective over your home and family?

Quite honestly I seriously doubt that my Lacys would bite someone but they give every appearance that they will at times. I socialized the heck out of my pups when they were growing up and they love people. However, I camp by myself and I always take two of them. NOTHING or ANYONE would dare get near our site without me knowing about it. Noone can driving into our property without us hearing them either. I'd say they are very protective over their family and home.

+++ Drive to St. Martinville and see what kind of greeting you get from Lacys. Never had anyone bitten but people don't coming charging into my house without seeing me around--Len +++

The only time Bella shows any temper is when you decide to approach the truck without being invited

Stormy might let you in...but you will play hell getting out of the house. My neighbor said,"When you were gone and I went and knocked and Stormy just came to the door and growled once, real low and ugly. I took that to mean they aren't here and you aren't welcome". When we are home and tell her "it's OK" then she is fine with whomever arrives.

Stormy's pup, our Jemma, is quick to let you know when you are being watched... But, she understands that once I say ok, she is to accept you... The others just lick you to see if you taste bad!

Cliff is right about our dogs. Our reds love most people. But, there is no doubt in my mind, that if something isn't okay, they'll let me, or the perpetrator know it in a heart beat. Jemma, is another story. She is leery all the time, sort of on guard. She waits for the handler to say it's okay. I think it's because of all the brothers she had to fight with when she was a wee pup! I feel very secure when Cliff is out of town, and I've got a Lacy with me!
