I want to make a social comment, on this day that we should all be celebrating, concerning the liberties we enjoy here in America.
One of our forefathers made a great point when he stated that the pen is mightier than the sword. And, that there is great power in causing folks to consider things.
So, please as you read this, consider what our life would be like if the government was allowed to control our ability to communicate with each other... Or, if they shut down television, radio, newspapers, or in more modern terms, the Internet?
Someone else is credited with saying "Power corrupts; Absolute power absolutely corrupts"...
What if the folks in charge were allowed to do with us what they might?
Would our country have grown to be the most powerful nation on the planet without our Constitution and Bill of Rights? I seriously doubt it... Because those words, that so many of us take for granted, are what protects us from tyrannical rule...
One doesn't have to look around very far to find examples of these practices taking place...
The news is full of reports of the turmoil in other countries, as good people attempt to throw off the shackles of dictatorship...
Sadly though, there are even more instances which will never see the light of day, because those in charge have acted like a thief in the night, and removed evidence. That simple act gone unnoticed, might save the day, except that people of principle would not let it stand.
So, I ask you now... Will you allow this to happen here?
Or, be like so many others who have ignored, or even accepted, the slow loss of our freedom...
Don't think that doing nothing is an effective defense. Those that would take away your rights depend on just that from you...
One thing that we do have absolute control over is our on mind...
Think folks, think!
Happy Fourth of July!
