Please see the attached link to some Videos of Jackson with my other dog. Pretty great. He seems relentless! Don't know if that is good, bad, or normal puppy behavior? It seems good and playful, but he just always wants to bite or chew on something or sleep. He growls and carries on like a wild dog at times! gabenavar.smugmug.com/Pets/Jackson-Videos/18950846_MMKwkc#1477976223_sm46Rcw

Looks normal to me. Just add a little control everyday so he knows you are the Alpha. I use the crate as a training tool. That is the most effective way I know to teach the wait command. I don't allow my puppies to put their teeth on me...they can mouth be are not allow to bite down. The other dog is different from a human though. These dogs also respond very quickly to clicker training.

Gabe, Sniper plays with our dogs just like that.. We have one lab female that is 1.4 years old and the two of them horseplay like that for an hour at a time.

You can start buy using a chew toy of your choice puppies seem to prefer soft ones that fit in their mouth.
You can buy them or make your own. Fleece or cotton rope works well.
Have one with you when your playing with your puppy. pull it out and exchange it for the item that its biting or chewing on.
Puppies when they play with each other tug and bite if they bite down to much they yelp ! which says slow down your playing to rough. you can do the same.
If the puppy is biting down on your hand give it the chew toy. they will catch on quick.
once they get the hang of the chew toy I then can put my hand in the pups mouth if they bite down I say nice! with a few sessions the bite goes away. This works well for me.

Pb12: Very good advise!
I also teach my puppy owners a little trick about how puppies think. When I play with my puppy I don't sit on their level. I sit in a chair and it is easier to deter biting from a vantage point. The Alpha in a pack always controls others from an available vantage point (top of a dog etc.) when they have it available. The puppy is not allowed to crawl all over me because I am alpha. They have to be invited to come up to my vantage point and if certain behavior is not followed they are immediately removed. You can read about this in a book called, "The dogs Mind" and another called, "The Culture Clash". I have learned alot about dogs over the past 30+ years by trial and error also.

Boy Jackson has stepped up his game. He is really quite busy. I am very glad I have Zack my older lab who has seemed to make it his job to kick his butt all day long and boy does he need it. Just wondering at what point does it get too much for my other dog.

I get a message that the video cannot be found... Cyn, I think you give your puppies a bit of loving instead of all that discipline! ;D Heeheehee!
