Bowhunters make better dog trainers! It's the self-discipline that makes the difference!

I have to agree bowhunters have the patience and determination.
I read the book The Dogs Mind. I like chapter 9 Early Learning. It enhances a chapter in one of my retriever books Water Dog. The Dogs Mental Development It gives you the five critical periods and what to expect.
I plan to chart Sadie progress and refer back to the chapters.

Wow you got that book quick pb12. I have Water Dog 1st edition with Robert Wolters, Water Dog 2nd edition with Charles T Jurney (trained by Robert Wolters), Gun Dog and Game dog dvd's. He is a very intuitive kind trainer and I love his methods.

Firewater Dog, written on an old paper sack by my grampaw is a much better read!

Glad to hear Sadie is off the charts.
Barnes and Noble had the book, I also read Don't Shoot The Dog, I didn't see Culture Clash.
I started using Wolters methods 19 years ago when I lived in central Nevada. I trained my labs for upland work they did great on Chukar, Sage hen and Doves. We hunted duck and geese when we made it up to Reno and Tahoe.
I helped train my friends Plott and Walker hounds for lions. Firewater Dog would have came in handy. Does anyone use Lacy's for lions ?
I saw a guy on the corner with firewater in a paper sack he was looking for his dog. His wife bought it for him a year ago when they got married. He wanted the dog back because it was still happy to see him when he got home.

Plotts and Walkers have more of a cold nose than Lacy dogs. A lacy could track lions to a degree I suppose but not a track that is say 3 days old like the Walkers do. Of course this is my theory and not my experience speaking here

We were rookies at tracking lions back then so we only tracked a few months out of the year. Tonopah NV where I lived was at 6000 feet so we cut tracks in fresh snow. We mainly tracked in areas where the Mule deer or wild Mustang herds wintered.
Clifford been quite the last few days he must be taking care of the honey do list.

My wife has stated at this point the puppy is just mean. He will not give the other dog a break and she thinks he may hurt him if it keeps up. Need to let them play but I am going to start putting controls in place.

I don't think the puppy is mean. He's still adjusting to his new home and trying to establish his spot in the pack. Older dogs will give puppies a grace period were they can get away ruff play.
Labs are tolerant but will put Jackson in his place when the time comes.
One control you can try that will not break the Jackson's spirit is let them play together when they play nice. Remove Jackson when they play rough. It may take a few days but Jackson will catch on. Good luck I think he's a great puppy.
