Its muzzle loader season here in TN. I shop a crooked horn 7 pt this morning. It only ran 65 yards up an adjacent ridge and went down on camera. I figured this was a great first track for Sniper since noone would be tracking up the area. I went home and got him and returned to the sight. I took him down in the bottom where I had shot the deer and while I was looking for the first signs of blood. Sniper was already pulling on the lead. I let him take me that direction and saw he was in fact on the blood trail. It didnt take him long to cover the 65 yards. At one point he looped to the right around some trees when I could see the deer down about 20 yards to my left. Sure enough as I looked on the trail Sniper was sniffing thats where the blood trail ran. He followed the blood trail as it looped left to the deer. I had to chuckle when Sniper realized there wasnt a chunk of liver at the end of the trail this time. But a WHOLE DEER. He was obviously a bit deer shy to approach it. But after a few minutes he was comfortable around the deer. It seems he likes the tastes of liver Ive been giving him when he finds his liver drags. But his real passion is a chunk of heart. He gobbled every piece I gave him down without even chewing.. Im so happy with him as young as he is that he found this deer completely uncoached at all. I had to call Clifford to see if it was normal for these puppies to do so well so young.. I cant wait to shoot another one for him now.. When I have time Ill edit this footage up and post it as well.
