So far, we have reports that half of the pups have found deer at less than five months of age. Jones, their dad, was a tracking machine at six months, and I expect to get more reports soon from the other pups.
Come on folks, work your dogs!

This one traveled at 50 mph and left a drop of blood every 100 yards. Sadie finally caught up with it. LOL... The last day of gun season in Illinois she did 3 night recoveries. recovered 2 doe and buck. Clifford was with me on the buck recovery. I let her out of the truck said find it. She found the blood trail, went across the corn field and down the ridge straight to the buck. She impressed us all! No coaching was required. We were still shining our lights to verify the blood trail. The buck was gut shot and the stomach sealed the wound which left a faint blood trail. It was a great feeling to have a puppy do so well.

We got a call from a boy on a neighboring farm. So we went out to recover it after Thanksgiving dinner.

Most of Sadie's recoveries have been at night. Its common for hunter's to get disoriented in the dark. They can't remember the location of impact or last sighting of the deer. This deer is one of two night time recoveries she made this weekWe start are searches by walking in the direction of the shot, then use a grid pattern until we intersect the blood trail. This one we found 150 yards from the hunters stand
