It's wonderful to put letters behind your dog's name, showing its achievements... And, going to someone who is not tainted by association with Lacys gives them a lot more credibility.

I was talking about with just sticking to the basic to get some consistency . Height , weight , Color and markings , Bite , Ears and so on . You need that consistency first and fore most IMO . It has been a great discussion and lots of good points. Yes the Policing starters with our own kennels .

You would only have to worry about the standard for about the first 4 generations of breeding then after that through the right dogs being bred EVERY dog from then on out will naturally follow the standard by it being bred into their bloodlines! its not hard to start a standard on a bred its just to get some of the older breeders to understand that its only to make the breed better and it doesn't mean their dogs aren't good just that a standard is needed to help the breed later on.

when doing the downsizing of the dogs you probably dont need a written standard as has been discussed. You just put together a well proportioned dog. Maybe not quite that easy but not alot harder than that either. All any standard is is a guide to go by. Each breeder comes up with his own personality of his kennel. We've all been around enough dogs to go to an event and see a dog that you immediately know where it comes from, that kennel has developed type which is very noticeable.

I agree with this but then of course the dogs being bred most all perform as expected as the #1 priority then fit into the standard.
